St. Louis University Medical School resident Christelle Ilbuodo M.D. is spending October at the clinic sponsored by Small Rain on a Medicine Abroad Scholarship.

The Dr. Philip A. Riley, Jr., and Mrs. Joane Riley Endowed Medicine Abroad Program sent seven pediatric or pediatric/intern residents to the countries of their choice on a one-month medical mission trip.

“Since my future career goals will be focused on pediatric infectious diseases, I feel that this experience will help me understand global infectious diseases and understand public health policies and practices in places other than the United States,” said Dr. Ilbuodo before leaving for Burkina Faso. It also will prepare me to eventually work on global health policies that will help reduce morbity and mortality associated with preventable infectious diseases.”

Dr. Ilbuodo is originally from Benin, a neighboring West African nation. And her husband is from Burkina Faso.

Small Rain is excited and grateful for her participation and hopes this will open the door for many more partnerships like it!
